Over the course of the next 8 weeks you will be trained in digital media production techniques and complete a custom production. Intro To The Basics of Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro Written by P. Ryan Parks Recap Last week we had a few hiccups but I believe we have those problems solved. We will continue to work on animating the OTV logo. Once everyone has a completed asset we will review and discuss which 3 we will turn in to the producers and editors. We will also practice for our Editing Test coming up on friday. After we learn the basics of editing and navigating in Adobe Premiere we will move on to Adobe Animate. Please review the industry terms for this week and review the key points. Industry Terms Of The Week: Sequence - A collection of arranged media files and effects within the Adobe Premiere Pro timeline. Keyframe - A point in a single frame used to mark and record a parameter change within Adobe Premiere Pro. Composition - The placement of an object within a frame. Frame - The image within the boundaries of the camera's sensor. Codec - Stands for coder/decoder. A program or file type used to compress and decode footage and audio. Resolution - A measurement used to determine the number of horizontal by vertical pixels in an image. HD - 1280 x 720p Full HD - 1920 x 1080p UHD - 3840 x 2160p 4K DCI - 4096 x 2160p Monday Today we will have Premiere Pro walk through. We will be creating an official version of the OTV Bumper. Please download the OTV logo from the google classroom link: https://classroom.google.com/c/MzgxMTYyMzAwMTU3/m/NDA0OTg3MjI0NjQ3/details Key Points Check Sequence Settings Session should be FHD 4096x2160p Session should be 60fps Use the clip preview window to trim and select the best image to drag into the timeline. “I” for in “O” for out. Use “Command K” to clip files in the timeline. Cut clips and use transitions in sync with the music. 3 ways to import footage to the timeline. Scale footage Right Click; scroll down and select “Set to Frame Size” Tuesday We are going to import our taglines and complete the OTV logo animation. Please use everything we learned this week to create an animated logo to use for our official OTV broadcast. We will also go over the best export settings and create a preset. Key Points Open a New project. Save the project as (MMZ OTV Logo First Name, Last Name) Import all media files into Adobe Premiere. Create a Full HD sequence. Create a minute long animation. Must use the following keyframes. Motion Scale Rotation Must use at least 3 transitions. Save Session Export file using the HQ H.264 preset. Key Points Composition is the placement of objects within a frame. Use the rule of thirds to compose a pleasing image. Use the files in the folder labeled “MMZ Composition” Wednesday We are going to continue working on the OTV logo. Today we are going to record the OTV tagline. Key Points Speak clearly and loudly. Make sure the signal lies between -3db to -6db. Thursday We will review everything we’ve done this week and practice for our test Friday. Friday's test. Students will be given audio files and images with the following prompt. Open a New project. Save the project as (MMZ Keyframes Test First Name, Last Name) Import all media files into Adobe Premiere. Create a Full HD sequence. Create a minute long animation. Must use the following keyframes. Motion Scale Rotation Must use at least 3 transitions. Save Session Export file using the HQ H.264 preset.

In What Do You Want To Learn?
I think the single most useful skill that I've learned while editing over the years is how to use keyframes. I can use any machine with stock #adobepremiere installed and create custom effects and transitions because I know how to use keyframes. What do ya'll think?
